An item baseline represents a complete identified item on a single level. AssetWise defines and controls an item baseline through the identification of a baseline document, which represents the complete configuration of the item.

An item baseline can only be created if the item is approved, and will only include approved documents related to the item.

Approval of the item baseline document constitutes the declared configuration of the item, and any subsequent changes to the item metadata or documents covered by the baseline will be subject to configuration control. An approved item baseline constitutes Item Release.
